Chrysocolla Pseudomorph aft. Malachite aft. Azurite Botryoidal Rare Mineral Cluster Rocks and Minerals Mineral Rock Decor Luputu Mine DRC
*This is a fragile specimen--Please read dimensions and care notes!* This is a lovely unpolished specimen of chrysocolla, a bright turquoise blue mineral. It is intergrown with little botryoidal pops of dark green malachite—this is considered a triple pseudomorph due to its unusual growth formations. This is a rare and unique specimen, as it is a 3 stage pseudomorph: chrysocolla after malachite, after azurite. The delicate needles seen here (and closer in macro view) are the visual hallmark of the original azurite. These clusters are accented by delicate raw edges, smooth curves, and strongly contrasting color zones. The botryoidal malachite is a subsequent layer of growth, forming tiny globular clusters. There are also white areas throughout lacking pigment, giving this cluster a third unique color. This particular specimen has beautiful color contrast and a very striking visual impact! It is characterized by rough edges and an organic, freeform shape. Though delicate and requiring special care, this small sized piece would make a striking shelf specimen, particularly for those who collect rare specimens! It would make a handsome addition to any mineral buff's specimen collection. *Care Notes: Chrysocolla is a fragile and crumbly mineral, so extra care during unpacking and display is imperative. It also should not be stored on a wooden shelf, or in direct sunlight, for prolonged periods of time. Keep out of water and protect the delicate needles from breakage.* Locality: Luputu Mine, Lubumbashi, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga, Dem. Rep. of Congo.
