John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band Eddie and the Cruisers Epic Records label "platinum" award. This album was released in 1983 and while this is not a RIAA award, the album--the soundtrack to the film--was in fact certified Platinum by the RIAA on Oct. 5, 1984 for 1 million copies sold. After its' initial 1983 release, the studio re-released later and some months after the film was in theaters the main song "On the Dark Side," was #1 on Billboard's Mainstream, Rock, and Heatseeker charts and at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Tender Years" also did well, peaking at #31 on the Hot 100. By 1995 the album would be certified 3x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for three million sold.
