The adze, or tväryxa as it is traditionally called, is basically like a chisel you can chop with. It has a number of uses such as squaring off logs & planks, shaping beams, & general carpentry tasks. The small adze is usually kept for when the user is close to the material. The bottom grip of the hickory handle is roughened which gives a steady grip even when one's hands are wet or sticky.
