Eagle Kachina by Raymond Chee, Hopi/Navajo - Hopi Eagle Katsina (RS179)

Wow!  This is a large, monumental carving. There are very few carvers that can capture the movement and detail of a kachina like Raymond Chee.  His work is outstanding!  This Eagle kachina is so lifelike that it could take an hour to really absorb every detail.  Just amazing! The name "kachina" is the nearly universally recognized spelling of the word used to refer to this type of carving.  However, there is no "ch" in the Hopi language, so "katsina" is the more accurate spelling.  You may see them referred to in both ways.
