Buffalo Prayer spiritual carving by Raymond Chee, Navajo/Hopi 1990s handmade Native arts (RS178)
One-of-a-kind hand carved spiritual cultural carving by award winning artist, Raymond Chee. This beautiful piece is called Buffalo Prayer and represents the critical connection between the northern plains' nations and the buffalo, which they relied on for survival. This carving is embellished with feathers, a leader prayer staff, medicine bundle and hunting knife. Raymond was in person in my gallery numerous times, and this doll was purchased directly from him in the 1990s. Over the years, Raymond has achieved numerous blue ribbons on his work and gained the recognition of collectors and the admiration of other artists. He was chosen to carve the monumental statues that depict the Navajo story at the Navajo Nation Museum in Window Rock, AZ. 7" wide x 12.5" highCONDITION: While this carving is missing some feathers, it is a beautiful example of authentic native art. Because of the missing feathers, I have it priced accordingly. See photos. RS178
