It is well known for its wide range of colors, including purple, blue, green, yellow, and even colorless. Fluorite is famous for its fluorescent properties; under ultraviolet light, it can emit a vivid glow, an effect attributable to certain impurities in the crystal. This mineral has a glassy luster and a perfect octahedral cleavage, meaning it can break into pieces with octahedral shapes.
