This beauty has quite a personality--it's a cluster of soft white calcite blades, punctuated with iridescent and golden tetrahedral chalcopyrite crystals, all growing atop a layer of gunmetal grey galena. The chalcopyrite is etched with triangular faces and unique burnished rainbow colors. The delicate calcite blades are beautiful in any light, and also the calcite fluoresces hot pink under ultraviolet light! This small to medium sized cluster has organic textures and an appealing, curved shape. It would be a lovely crystal cluster for display or holding in one’s hand, and would make a stunning addition to any specimen collection. Locality: Madan Ore Fields, Bulgaria Dimensions: 3.50” x 2.13” x 1.88” (88mm x 54mm x 48mm) Weight: 126 g (4.4 oz) Calcite is calcium carbonate, and is the most abundant carbonate mineral in the world. In fact, it forms the widest variety of colors and habits of any mineral! Chalcopyrite is an iron sulfide mineral with copper—it is closely related to iron pyrite, but grows in a different habit. It’s brassy yellow color and tetrahedral habit sets it apart. Galena is a lead sulfide mineral that forms in hydrothermal environments alongside fellow sulfides, carbonates, and quartz. (Metallic minerals like galena should be handled with care; please wash hands after handling and keep out of water.) Healing Properties: Chalcopyrite is a stone of masculine, solar energy. Chalcopyrite is associated with finding lost objects and manifestation. Galena is associated with shamanic work and journeys. *Though many gems and minerals have historical and cultural associations with healing properties, these items are sold for display, study, and collector interest only.
