Zircopax is getting hard to find and very expensive. See our "milled zircon" listing, which is cheaper but has a probable larger particle size. Zircopax is a brand name for zircon, the mineral zirconium silicate. In ceramics it's used (mostly) as a glaze opacifier. It's a refractory material so it's also used as an ingredient in refractory shapes, kiln wash, and other refractory purposes. Any one (of the 3 names in the title) are the same chemical, but they perform differently when used as glaze opacifiers because the smaller the particle size, the better they opacify. Milled zircon can be used to opacify but a thicker layer will be needed. Zircopax, having a smaller particle size is a more "concentrated" opacifier....(see more)
