This is a mineral that potters have been using as the key component of glazes for over a century. The boric oxide in it melts at low fire. It is a conglomerate mineral composed of 2 minerals, Colemanite and Ulexite (plus a small amount, not enough to matter of Hectorite). It's used as the base component in both pre-formulated and custom low to mid fire glazes. It's an excellent source of boron and calcium. It gives a slight opalescence to the glaze color.  GB melts so easily and glazes are so easily formulated with it that potters love it (though not it's tendency to vary between jelly and slurry in a bucket while using)....(see more)
