This pigment is a purple with a strong blue cast. It's based on Tyrian Purple, which is much more well known. That color has a definite red cast. I don't like it nearly as well as the cobalt blue variety. There are not many suppliers who carry this expensive pigment. There is relatively little information on the technical properties of it. I believe this is a chemical compound of cobalt blue and tyrian purple and not a mixture of two pigments. If it were the latter it would tend to muddy up any other pigments mixed with it.
