This is a high-purity, sodium bentonite that's free flowing but of very fine micronized particles. It's more expensive and considered higher quality than other bentonites, including the Western bentonite we carry. Most bentonites will produce speckles where they're not wanted. HPM-20 is 'guaranteed' not to produce speckles. Bentonite is used in ceramics as a suspending agent, viscosity increasing agent, binder, plasticizer, and emulsion stabilizer. There are several different types of it which exhibit slightly different properties. It is usually dark colored. The fact that it's relatively inexpensive makes it attractive material for many applications.....(see more)
