Labradorite is a type of feldspar that can have bright flashes of blue, yellow, and even purple hues. This optical effect is due to light waves interacting within the crystalline lattice and this "play of light" is called the schiller effect. This particular labradorite is from Madagascar and is grade A material. Unfortunately, the labradorite flash is not preserved when the mineral has been progressively pulverized into tiny pieces. Our powdered material consists of mostly silt and clay sized particles. Our powders do have a slight grit to them. Please see the corresponding sediment size chart.  Mineral Properties Mohs’s Hardness: 6 - 6.5 Specific Gravity (g/cm3): 2.65 - 2.74 Luster: Vitreous Color: Light Grey  Origin: Madagascar This product is not man-made, mixed with resin, dyed, or stabilized. Pictures are taken in full sun and material is dry. Size measurements are using the metric system (millimeters).
