arge Authentic Pre-Columbian Colima Culture (present day Western-Coast of Mexico) seated male figure artifact dating from the proto-Classic period (300BC-300 AD). Elegant redware artifact with beautiful patina and manganese deposits. Stately pottery figure depicting a serene man seated with bent legs upon a pair of posterior spikes. Highly burnished and adorned with red and red-orange slip, the figure presents with both arms resting upon his thighs, his feet outstretched and spread out, as he leans forward with rounded shoulders and a slightly curved back. The elongated head exhibits a pair of slit-form, coffee bean-shaped eyes, a triangular nose with broad nostrils, a narrow mouth, and ears adorned with multiple rings each, all beneath a tall forehead surmounted by a finely incised cap. A vent hole atop the head enabled heat to escape during the firing process. Size: 7.1" W x 12.8" H (18 cm x 33.2 cm).
