Authentic Pre-Columbian Jalisco Culture (present day Western-Coast of Mexico) seated mourning figure. This rare form artifact dates from the proto-Classic period (300BC-300 AD). This stone-burnished pottery figure seated upon thick legs and holding both arms under the pointed chin, perhaps in a mourning pose. The elongated head features impressed eyes, a petite mouth, a prominent nose, and ears adorned with rings. Size: 5.5" W x 7.625" H (14 cm x 19.4 cm).
