Dark, ample and layered, the 2019 possesses remarkable depth and nuance right out of the gate. Black cherry, lavender, licorice, coffee and new leather all flesh out in this deceptively mid-weight Riserva. Impressive. Our Tasting NoteDeep ruby, vibrant ruby edges. The bouquet is med+/pronounced, the aromas rise easily from the glass with red bing cherry, red raspberry, classic sangiovese dusty notes, some new saddle leather, and light balsamic spice notes, with a beautiful floral lavender lift. On the palate this is medium to full bodied, med/med+ perfectly integrated  acidity, med+ ripe and mildly structured tannin.  Flavor intensity is med+ to full, with a long finish. Cement tanks ferment the wines and large botti (oak casks larger than SUVs) age the wines into the majestic, deeply complex, and elegant, but dense and persistent character. I hate to name-drop this again but if you love Monterevtine, soulful reds like ethereally deep red Burgundy or Loire reds you will love these wines!
