DESCRIPTION Introduction to Raku Firing This hands-on workshop introduces students to Raku: an ancient Japanese alternative firing technique which involves removing pieces from a kiln while still hot and placing them in combustible materials to starve the piece of oxygen. Only Raku clay and Raku glaze should be used to make pieces. Items that are Raku fired are not food safe so please keep this in mind when deciding what to bring for firing.
