
Eno-Trio "Iddu" Carricante Terre Siciliane Bianco 2020
Direct Press Selection | September 2021 Press 4 White Eno-Trio is one of the youngest projects from Etna we're featuring this month, started in 2013 by the trio of Nunzio Puglisi and his daughters Stefany and Desiree. Nunzio is not new to wine, having spent 30 years as an agronomist, most recently for Benanti, another well-respected Etna producer. Nunzio wanted to have something to pass onto his daughters and they are making very impressive wines with only three hectares of vines on the north side of Etna in a wild and harsh area. The farming is organic and only a small amount of sulfur is used in the cellar, everything else is hands-off. Their Carricante is an example of the lean, fine, wines that Etna can produce. This is fine-boned, tangy, and stony, where Carricante can often be quite salty and rounder. Ethereal and understated, it's almost like a more mineral, detailed version of Palomino Fino.
