Stellar Beam Calcite with Barite, Sphalerite and Quartz

A golden rocket ship of Calcite from the Cumberland Mine in Smith County, Tennessee. This variety of Calcite is often referred to as "Stellar Beam" Calcite in allusion to its galactic shape. The golden orange and yellow color of the Calcite is perfectly accented by the sparkling drusy Quartz crystals and rich ruby colored Sphalerite crystals. The Cumberland Mine is located within the same geologic zone as the equally famous Elmwood Mine down the road. This specimen displays beautifully vertically or horizontally.
