This is the second title in a series of out-of-print and highly coveted design books by David Hicks, the legendary British decorator whose oeuvre included homes for royalty (like Prince Charles), celebrities, and magnates. His iconoclastic interiors defined the swinging ‘60s and still reverberate today. In this evocatively-illustrated volume, the arbiter defines the nuts-and-bolts of good taste, offering guidelines for selecting everything from wallpaper and furniture, digging all the way down to brass tacks (and light switches!). An eye-opening education on how even the smallest details can make a room sing. This book is in good vintage condition with some creases and discoloration to its dust jacket, which is protected in a plastic sleeve. There is a small loss at the top of the spine. The pages are clean and the volume is well intact. The previous owner has taped the designer's New York Times obituary by Mitchell Owens to the endpaper. With their graphic covers and original text, the design tomes that Hicks published in the late 1960's and early 1970's are true collector's items. We are offering 5 volumes from the series, each sold separately.
