180 Grit Sanding Discs

Serious Grit 180 grit sanding discs are premium film-backed velcro discs designed to fit most 5" and 6" random orbital sanders with hook and loop backing pads. Our woodturning discs fit any 2" or 3" Velcro sanding pad.  This is a fine grit, used by woodworkers and DIYers for a variety of tasks. While it has good cutting power, it will leave the surface of wood smooth enough for finish and some woodworkers use it as the final step in sanding prior to applying finish. We generally recommend going up to higher grits when working with hardwoods such as walnut or maple, but depending on the piece you're working on 180 grit might be high enough to stop there. Because Serious Grit uses a film substrate material in our discs (as opposed to paper), these can be used wet in order to reduce clogging and improve finish quality in paint or other projects where a gloss finish is desired.
