About the Poster Beat the Whites with the Red Wedge! (Russian: Клином красным бей белых!) is a 1919 early communist propaganda poster and Suprematist masterpiece by Lazar Markovich Lissitzky (Russian: Лазарь Маркович Лисицкий). The poster, surprising in its simplicity, is full of pictorial symbols and skillfully plays up empty and occupied space: a red triangle symbolizing the Red Army wedges into a white circle, crushing the defenses of the anti-communist and imperialist forces of the White Army.
