This extremely rare pyritized Late Ordovician, trilobite, Triarthrus eatoni is from the Whetstone Gulf Formation, Lewis County, New York. The trilobite is in dark gray shale, but the bug, itself, has been partially impregnated with Pyrite, outlining the soft tissue structures, such as antennae, legs and gut. The impregnation by pyrite is natural and not man-made, it is a phenomenon which occurs very rarely in nature. The trilobite measures 0.45 inches long, the trilobite with the matrix, measures 2.25 inches by 2.0 inches by 0.45 inches
