Espressifs ESP32 WROOM is a robust WiFi and Bluetooth MCU module designed for a wide range of applications. At its core lies the ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip, which is engineered to be scalable and adaptive. To ensure ease of use, the Thing Plus is made Feather-compatible and utilizes the convenient Qwiic Connect System, eliminating the need for soldering or shields when connecting it to other components. The SparkFun Thing Plus - ESP32 WROOM w/ USB-C offers several improvements over the previous ESP32 Thing Plus. These enhancements include a µSD card slot, a USB-C connector, an integrated RGB status LED, a battery fuel gauge, and two voltage regulators - a separate 700 mA current source for the board and Qwiic connector. It is worth noting that this board uses a CH340C serial-to-UART bridge, unlike previous versions. The ESP32 Thing Plus incorporates a diverse set of peripherals, such as capacitive touch sensors, an SD card interface, Ethernet, high-speed SPI, UART, I2S, and I2C. Additionally, the module features 16 MB of flash memory, 520 kB of internal SRAM, an integrated 802.11 b/g/n WiFi transceiver with dual-mode Bluetooth® capabilities, and a JST connector for LiPo battery connection.
