Central to this module is the ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip, known for its scalability and adaptability. The board is Feather compatible and incorporates the Qwiic Connect System, eliminating the need for soldering or additional shields for connectivity. This versatile board is ideal for a wide range of Internet of Things projects, from simple tasks like turning on an LED to more complex data posting operations. It can be programmed using the Arduino IDE with the updated ESP32 Arduino Core. The Thing Plus integrates numerous peripherals, including capacitive touch sensors, an SD card interface, Ethernet, high-speed SPI, UART, I2S, and I2C. It features 16 MB of flash memory, 520 kB of internal SRAM, an integrated 802.11 BGN WiFi transceiver, and dual-mode Bluetooth capabilities. Additionally, it includes a JST connector for a LiPo battery and a U.FL connector for an external antenna. The SparkFun Qwiic Connect System, an ecosystem of I2C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables, simplifies prototyping by using a common 1 mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector. This system reduces PCB space requirements and ensures polarized connections to prevent incorrect hookups.
