French Revival Ribbonwork Floral Passementerie - Pink Polyester Satin with Wired Green/Mauve Leaves
Tinkering with technique, here's a ribbon floral I created in a French Revival fashion. Made of satin polyester, rayon and wired ribbon, this pink flower applique - embellishment - decoration in colors of pink, mint green and mauve. Measuring 1-5/8" x 1-1/2", the piece is handsewn and glued. Although I don't show it, I put a ribbon tube at the back so this piece can be threaded with ribbon and then suspended, to be worn as a necklace. To attach to your favorite piece, either sew on, glue on or add a pin to the back (this way, the piece can be detached before your item is cleaned). The ribbon applique is quite secure and is in no danger of falling apart. Uses? A dolls hat or dress, a blazer lapel, a dress, a lampshade .... the uses are endless. So hard to find, a true vintage piece of French ribbon artistry. (ry)
