950 Silver Cigarette or Billfold Case with Signed Japanese Floral Design - Large Size

Dating anywhere from the early 1900s to the 1930s, may I offer this very long case of 950 Silver (hallmarked as pictured). Possibly Made in Japan, as evidence by the chops to the back cover, the etched design of the piece is all floral with a lot of leaves. Case opens easily and closes with the requisite SNAP; the inside has a silver bar chain under which one would place whatever was to be held. Length is 6-1/2"; width is 3-5/16" from spine hinge to clasp; depth is about 3/8". Weight is a hefty 192 grams. Condition is very fine but there are light surface marks to the outer covers - a professional polish is definitely in order. A wonderful piece of vintage silver that might serve a myriad of uses.
