On the occasion of the Performa 2018 Gala in honor of Christo & Jeanne-Claude Prospect NY and Performa collaborated on a special piece commemorating the iconic façade of El Internacional by Antoni Miralda, which was once located on 219 W. Broadway in TriBeCa. El Internacional opened in 1984, taking over old-school restaurant Teddy’s –the name Teddy’s was camouflaged into the façade of the new restaurant, highlighting the apostrophe in gold and giving the piece its name, Teddy’s Apostrophe. Performa is a leading organization dedicated to exploring the critical role of live performance in the history of twentieth-century art and to encouraging new directions in performance for the twenty-first century.
