Great Seal of King James 1 of England with attached vellum document. The reverse of the document reads "3 August 1603. A pardon ... William Robinson ...." Most of this text is undecipherable to us but in a beautiful 17th century court hand. There is additional writing referencing Elizabeth. The large vellum document measures 17.5" x 12" and begins with "Jacobus", meaning King James 1 and it references Elizabeth throughout it. The attached Great Seal is King James, as. Elizabeth died on March 24, 1603. This pardon is dated August 3, 1603. Thus it is King James 1's confirmation of a pardon issued by Elizabeth. Protected in 7.75" x 7.75" x 2.5" wooden box with glass front.
