Quintarelli Rosso Ca' del Merlo 2017
Giuseppe Quintarelli Rosso Ca' del Merlo hails from Veneto region in northeastern Italy, specifically the Valpolicella area. The vineyards are situated on basalt and limestone slopes, providing a unique terroir that imparts distinct mineral characteristics to the wine. This single-vineyard bottling is a blend of indigenous and international grape varieties, including Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Cabernet Sauvignon, and others. The winemaking process involves a meticulous selection of grapes, with 50% pressed immediately after harvest and 50% dried for two months using the appassimento method. After initial fermentation, the wine undergoes a secondary fermentation on the lees of Amarone, known as the ripasso technique, enhancing its complexity and depth. The wine is then aged for seven years in large Slavonian oak barrels, allowing it to develop its signature elegance and structure.
