.220 Swift Standard Rifle - 1953

This is a .220 Swift standard rifle produced in 1953 with a serial number of 278079. The bolt is correct and serial number matched to the receiver and the serial number has also been marked on the bolt sleeve assembly (safety shroud). The magazine box has been modified with the addition of two pieces soldered onto the inside forward portion of the box, probably for the purpose of enhancing feeding.  The original bluing on the rifle is very good, grading at better than 90% with light edge wear and some general thinning of the bluing. The bottom metal has some light edge wear. There are some dings on the bottom of the barrel knot caused by removal or installation of barrel escutcheon, but no other deep scratches or dings in the metal. The bore of the 26" stainless barrel is in very good condition with no pitting but some light throat wear and some light wear of the lands in the first few inches of the bore, which otherwise is nearly perfect.
