Green Fluorite Octahedral Geometric On Matrix Natural Crystal Cluster Raw Rocks and Minerals Mineral Specimen Riemvasmaak South Africa

*This is a miniature specimen—please examine scale photo and consider dimensions carefully!* This natural specimen has quite a personality--it's a small cluster of beautiful octahedral (8-sided) fluorite crystals from Riemvasmaak, South Africa! The crystals are natural and unpolished, with varying levels of perfection on tips. These translucent crystals feature good clarity, both raw and lustrous surface textures, and a raw back layer. The crystals display a lovely bright cool seafoam green shade, the quality of which is hard to describe but is distinctive for this locality. The crystals have perched aesthetically on a white matrix branch, making it an excellent display specimen. Some octahedral points are incomplete and some are in good condition. This would be a lovely crystal for meditation, and would make a stunning addition to any healing or especially specimen collection. Locality: Riemvasmaak, South Africa. Dimensions: 1.50” x 1.00” x 1.00” (38mm x 26mm x 26mm) Weight: 19.4 g (0.68 oz) Riemvasmaak (reem-vas-mahck) is considered one of the best fluorite localities worldwide. This small South African town is surrounded by a huge pegmatite district which yields vibrant fluorite, quartz and some metallic minerals. The cause of the green color is unknown, but is currently thought to be caused by rare earth elements. Mined from the areas surrounding the famed Orange River, this fluorite from this “classic” locality has been known since the 1970s but came to prominence in 2006. Fluorite is a halide mineral, which forms in many colors and growth habits. It has been known to fluoresce brightly, although some specimens are basically inert under blacklight. Fluorite is an isometric mineral, which means it forms shapes in the cubic system, such as cubes, octahedra, and dodecahedral. Healing Properties: Fluorite is known as the "psychic vacuum cleaner"--it promotes the removal of negative energies, and also assists in focus and mental clarity.
