1 Session: Saturday, April 30 from 12-2pm PT In-Person Max: 7 people Min: 4 people COURSE DESCRIPTION: Love is possibly one of the most popular subjects that brings people to poetry. There is nothing better than reading a poem that excites the heart or reveals something dormant. How do we write a love poem? What does it mean to approach love in our writing without risking corniness? The goal of this generative, in-person workshop is to examine and challenge our ideas on what makes up a love poem. We’ll discuss and analyze poems by Donika Kelly, Ada Limón, and Aracelis Girmay, among others, and we’ll write poems in response to prompts that will motivate us to think about love and love poems differently.  About the Instructor: Luther Hughes is the author of the debut poetry collection, A Shiver in the Leaves, forthcoming from BOA Editions September 27, 2022, and the chapbook Touched (Sibling Rivalry Press, 2018).
