CEPHALONIA: 1882 - First Class pax list from 1883 w/ excellent graphics
Cunard Line - From 1883, a four-page First Class passenger list from the CEPHALONIA. The liner had taken her maiden voyage a year earlier. The lithograph cover graphics are excellent with a nicely detailed two-stack ship (but not the CEPHALONIA as she had but one), Poseidon atop his galloping horse, a seagull, and various swags and foliage. I estimate there are about 220 names on the list, not including the maids, nurses, and children who are listed without names. The ship departed Liverpool on September 12, 1883, bound for Boston. On back is a fancy track chart surrounded by a Cunarder at sea with sails raised, two eagles, a dove, flowers, and fancy little doo-dad decorations. The CEPHALONIA sailed for Cunard until 1900 when she was sold to the Chinese. The liner was sunk at Port Arthur in 1904 as a blockage ship. Excellent condition.
