Bruce Hornsby and the Range The Way It Is RIAA 2x Multi-Platinum LP Award

RIAA 2x Multi-Platinum LP award for Bruce Hornsby and the Range debut album The Way It Is, which was released on April 28, 1986 and by April 8, 1987 was certified 2x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA.  The success of this, the group's debut, was driven by heavy airplay of the album's #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit title track, followed by later singles "Mandolin Rain" and "Every Little Kiss". The album rose as high as #3 in the U.S. and #16 in the U.K. The album also landed Hornsby and his group to a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1987. By 1991 the album was certified 3x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for three million sold.
