Scarab's final sports racer, the mid-engined, Buick-powered Mark IV, was completed in 1963, but was sold to John Mecom as Reventlow made the decision to close up shop. Mecom immediately replaced the Buick mill with a Traco-built 327 Chevy and put the nimble spyder on a boat to the Bahamas. In the capable hands of A.J. Foyt, the Scarab Mark IV would bag the coveted Nassau Trophy during 1963 Speed Week,  showing its heels to top-rank factory competition from Ferrari and Shelby.
