At the Root of It with Amethyst Cabochon

This lovely silver pendant features a 14 x 10 mm amethyst cabochon that weighs 5.45 carats nested in the roots of a tree. The amethyst comes from the Deer Hill pegmatite in Stow, Maine. It was mined  between 1967-1971 by Jim Mann.  The pendant has been handcrafted by Jesse Mixer of Conway, NH.  She uses very fine saws to hand-cut vignettes out of sterling silver.  Each of her designs is unique; no two are the same. The pendant is 2 inches long by 0.75 inches wide on an 18 inch chain.
