Crushed Green Vesuvianite (California Jade) Sand from California, Medium Sand (0.25mm-2mm)
Vesuvianite was initially found in a volcanic block adjacent to Mount Vesuvius, hence its name. This mineral forms as a result of contact metamorphism, where incredibly hot fluids mix with the host rock and create new minerals. Vesuvianite can occur in a variety of different colors; however, the jade-like green version is known as "Californite" or "Californian Jade". Our medium material is considered to be sand sized (very coarse sand to fine sand), ranging between 2 millimeters to 0.25 millimeters. Please see the corresponding sediment size chart.
