Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's crust. Many gemstones, such as amethyst, rose quartz, and citrine, are quartz varieties that have trace amounts of other elements within their crystalline structure. These trace elements produce the variety of colors that we see in quartz.  The color of strawberry quartz (translucent red) can be attributed to numerous tiny inclusions of iron-rich oxides inside the crystalline structure. These iron-rich oxides are generally composed of hematite, goethite, or lepidocrocite. This particular crushed strawberry quartz has NOT been treated and is from Brazil. Our medium material is considered to be sand sized (very coarse sand to fine sand), ranging between 2 millimeters to 0.25 millimeters. Please see the corresponding sediment size chart.  Mineral Properties Mohs’s Hardness: 7 Specific Gravity (g/cm3): 2.64 - 2.69 Luster: Vitreous Color: Light Red, Translucent Origin: Brazil This product is not man-made, mixed with resin, dyed, or
