Carnelian is a reddish-brown and orange variety of chalcedony, which is also a type of microcrystalline quartz. Historically, this mineral has been prized for its beautiful color as evidenced by ancient beads that date back to the Neolithic Age. In addition, this mineral was highly valued during the height of the Roman and Greek empires. This particular crushed carnelian is from India and has a gorgeous mix of orange, red, and reddish-brown hues. The carnelian powder has a light brownish-orange color.
