Crushed Yellow and Black Bumblebee Jasper Sand from Indonesia, Medium Sand (0.25mm-2mm)
Bumblebee "Jasper" is the trade name (technically not a real jasper) for this colorful, carbonate-rich rock that is only found in West Java, Indonesia. This vibrant rock is made of fibrous calcite with a distinctive yellow, orange, and black banding. The different colored bands are due to different mineral inclusions within the calcite's crystalline matrix. This material is relatively soft, with a Moh's hardness of 3. Our medium material is considered to be sand sized (very coarse sand to fine sand), ranging between 2 millimeters to 0.25 millimeters. Please see the corresponding sediment size chart.
