Lithops salicola 'Bacchus,' also known as 'Living Stones,' is a rare and petite succulent that captivates with its small, fleshy leaves resembling the stony landscape of its South African homeland. This fascinating plant is mostly subterranean, with a long taproot that stores water and nutrients to survive drought conditions. The leaves display a soft brown base hue, accented by rusty red edges around the 'windows' on the flattened upper surface, allowing light to penetrate deep into the plant. Thriving in bright sunlight, 'Bacchus' rewards with large yellow blooms in the summer. Watering can be tricky; provide thorough but infrequent drinks during spring and fall, and avoid watering during summer and winter. Plant 'Bacchus' in extremely porous soil within a well-draining pot to prevent rot, and ensure good airflow around the leaves. As the blooms and old leaves fade in late fall, stop watering until spring to protect the plant from freezing temperatures, which can damage its water-rich leaves. NOTE: Every 2" pot contains 1 lithop. Every 2.5" pot may contain 1-3 individual lithops depending on current availability.
