Archimedes

When it’s all possible! The “Sand Reckoner” is a work by Archimedes where he challenged the idea that it was impossible to calculate the number of grains of sand that fit into the Universe. His solution was to estimate the size of the Universe and create a way to discuss unimaginably large numbers. This is my newest shape to join the growing design catalog, a 3x8 “Archimedes” ceramic tile, showing off  all of its true handmade beauty with a glossy, translucent Dark Celadon green glaze.  My handmade Archimedes ceramic tile tessellates in a variety of fabulous geometric patterns to dazzle the eye. An Archimedean tiling consist of regular polygons, where all the edge lengths are similar and the vertices work in tandem, to form a beautiful visual delight across your design surface.  Archimedes is a nominal 3x8 inches, (8) tiles per nominal square foot with a 3/16 inch grout space.
