Smith Fig Tree

Smith Figs are considered to be a southern delicacy, as it's one of the most impressive of the older fig varieties floating around the deep south. These medium-sized, berry figs have a green exterior and a beautiful red interior. They have a very pronounced berry flavor that is unlike any other fig you've probably ever tasted. The Smith Fig variety was originally brought to the US from France by Becnel Nursery in Louisiana. It has since been deemed a southern heirloom because it has been a favorite in the southern states for decades. This fig is easy to grow in southern climates and is resistant to splitting during periods of heavy rain or high humidity.
