Magnolia is a massive sugar fig that's great for making fig preserves or fig jelly. It's a favorite for many due to its size and productivity. These trees grow fast and start producing large figs usually within the second year. Magnolia figs usually get larger than a golf ball, but size will be somewhat dependent on ground moisture. Also known as Brunswick or Madonna, Magnolia was introduced in the 1800s. A tree peddler in Texas was selling actual Magnolia trees, which were later discovered to be fig trees identical to the Brunswick variety -- hence the name "Magnolia." Many fig growers will use the names Brunswick or Magnolia interchangeably.
