Peter's Honey Fig is an Italian fig variety that was brought to the United States from Sicily by Peter Danna of Portland. This medium-sized honey fig has a beautiful yellow to green skin and a delicious amber pulp. As is the case with all honey figs, these are best when eaten right off the tree! Peter's Honey Fig has been successfully grown in the Pacific Northwest and is said to be more cold-tolerant than other honey fig varieties. When growing figs in northern climates, it's important to have them located in an area where they'll get plenty of sun throughout the day. Honey figs like this variety will develop tiny black spots called "sugar spots" as the figs ripen, but it doesn't impact the quality of the figs at all.
