LSU O'Rourke Fig Tree

LSU O'Rourke is a sugar fig developed by Dr. Ed O'Rourke at Louisiana State University in the 1950s. This variety was finally released in the early 2000s and has been a favorite of many fig enthusiasts since. It is an early-ripening fig variety, comparable to the production of Improved Celeste. LSU O'Rourke produces medium-sized, bell-shaped figs that have a soft brown skin and an amber pulp. These sweet, sugary figs are excellent for making jelly, fig preserves, and more! The flavor is similar to Celeste, but these are considered to be a higher quality fig.
