LSU Red Fig Tree

The LSU Red Fig is one of the most productive sugar fig varieties we've grown! This "unofficial" release from the Louisiana State University fig breeding program produces loads of sugar figs on each branch. These small figs pack a sugary punch and are great for making fig preserves or other sweet treats. Much like the other LSU fig varieties, LSU Red is a vigorous grower -- especially in hot and humid climates. When fertilized and water well, you should get solid production within a couple years of planting. LSU Red figs are less prone to cracking and splitting during heavy rainfall, which makes them an exceptional variety in our orchard every year!
