The National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) awarded WHERE THE LEMON TREES 36 the Miriam Russo Enders Award in the 134th Annual Members Exhibition. It is created on Belgian linen with ink, oil, acrylic, pencil and oil pastel. In refence to the series title, this is lyrical landscape, I wanted to create shapes that fit together, with colors that advance and recede. I wanted a visual texture-- from the small flowers in lower left, to larger areas of color in the sky and large trees. I added direction to the artwork that expands the view beyond the confines of the square space, our peripheral vision. It is signed in the lower right.
