WHERE THE LEMON TREES BLOOM 18

My series, entitled WHERE THE LEMON TREES BLOOM is inspired by the German poet and statesman, Goethe. The collection is comprised of primarily landscapes, in varying scale with an emphasis on the concept that the contour of the land is timeless, the vision eternal.  I am conducting a joyful and lyrical visual presentation, an expression of music and form. The mark-making means to mimic a waltz or the literal- sheet music- adagio to allegro, legato to staccato. I lead the eye, changing cadence, resting momentarily and urges discovery of new terrain.  The inclusion of musical inspiration is part of my process, and the process is the medley of an artist. I used addition and subtraction of oil paint with a palette knife, and I draw with the tool. I have used colored pencils and ink, in addition to strokes with a paint brush. Each area is layered and interesting. As a bonus, it is framed in a 1.25" handmade simple bronze hand-rubbed wood frame. 24" x 36"  Oil on Canvas
