size juvie, around 1” The Ghost mantis is a popular species due to its unusual look and cryptic appearance. These mantis are on the smaller side reaching about 2 inches as adults. They will rock back and forth when walking to mimic a leaf blowing in the wind. This species has a wide African range and can come in shades of brown to green. Like all mantises give them a tall enclosure with perches to hang from when they molt. Described in 1838 by Karl Hermann Konrad Burmeister.
